Schindler Parent Identity to create new airport brand
27, January 2009:
Following a European-wide award procedure the Berlin airports have awarded the contract to develop their new brand identity, including the BBI airport, to Schindler Parent Identity, Berlin, an agency specialized in branding processes.
Berlin airports spokesman, Ralf Kunkel: “The new airport is the most principal future project of the German capital. By the airport’s opening in autumn 2011 we will have developed a strong brand with which we can market the airport worldwide.”
“We are looking forward to the task before us. With tens of thousands of passengers each day the new airport will play a fundamental role in shaping the German capital. It is both a gateway to the world and the entrance to one of the world’s most fascinating regions. We aim to turn the airport into a calling card for Berlin and Brandenburg, giving it a clear and distinctive corporate identity,” says Matthias Dietz, managing partner of Schindler Parent Identity, Berlin.
Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld GmbH (FBS) currently operates the Schönefeld airport and – via Berlin Flughafengesellschaft mbH (BFG), a wholly-owned subsidiary – Tegel, Berlin’s busiest airport. The company presents itself to its passengers and customers under the brand name Berliner Flughäfen (Berlin Airports). A renewal of its brand identity has become necessary, as the air traffic of the entire region will be concentrated at a single location as of the end of October 2011: at the new Berlin Brandenburg International Airport in Schönefeld.
